IN the heart of the Margaux wine producing area
The Château Larruau vineyard is made up of 35 plots held in the qualitative heart of the Margaux terroir, near the greatest vintages of the appellation, such as Châteaux Lascombes, Palmer or Rauzan-Ségla. A significant part of them adjoins Château Margaux itself.
The diversity of this vineyard, sitting on the best plateaus of the appellation, made up of gravel, silt, clay-limestone, thus composes a viticultural ensemble very representative of the many nuances of the Margaux wine production.
A precision viticulture
The cultural approach of the vineyard of Château Larruau benefits from the same care as that lavished on Château Martinho by its owner and the philosophy which governs the management of the two estates also comes from organic farming. A quality approach facilitated by the use of the wine-growing company created by Miguel Martinho in the service of the grands crus, which allows both to multiply the interventions and to act with precision, when the vineyard requires it.
At the heart of the system, manual work, carried out with great meticulousness, allows us to optimize the sanitary state of the vineyard by ensuring the spreading of the bunches and the aeration of the plant, in particular by the means of thinning out the leaves.
The speed of execution of these manual interventions is of particular importance during green harvesting, where exceeding the required date can lead to damaging berry swelling. In the same way, during the harvest, the respect of the stages of maturity can require fast interventions. These are all natural challenges that can be met thanks to the intervention of a large team that is aware of the problems involved.
